Compared to与compared with可通用，放于句首，意为“与…相比”, …可视为独立成分

eg: Compared to his brother,the guy earned much more money by doing business. 与他的哥哥相比，他通过做生意赚了更多的钱。

辨析“compare to”和“compare with”的区别

1.在句法上，意思不一样

1）、compare with : 表示“把……跟……比较”

2）、compare to：表示“把……比作/看待……”；含有“比喻”的意思

eg: Let me compare my homework with yours. 把我的作业和你的比较一下吧！（同类）

A teacher's work is often compared to a candle. 教师的工作常被比作蜡烛. （ 异类）

2.相比较的对象不同，用法也不同。

1）、compare with：同类相比。一般用于两个同类事物之间相比，着重区别。

2）、compare to：异类相比。一般用于两个不同性质的事物比较。

eg: We often compare a teacher to a candle．我们常把老师比喻成蜡烛。（ 异类）

We carefully compared the first report with the second.

我们仔细比较了第一份报告和第二份报告。（同类）
