worthy有两种用法,一是用作形容词,表示“有价值的;可尊敬的;值得的”的意思,二是用作名词,表示“知名人士;杰出人物”的意思,是可数名词,复数形式是worthies。固定搭配有:
worthy of(值得……的),
worthy man(值得尊敬的人),
be worthy to do sth(值得做某事),
be worthy of sth(应该得到某事物)。
worthy作定语使用时表示“值得(尊重、考虑)的”,翻译时也比较灵活,如:值得的,有价值的,崇高的,伟大的,突出的...等等都可能。
