在英语最高级句型中，往往有一个表示比较范围的介词短语。其常见的结构是：“be+形容词(或副词)最高级+in/of/among…"，在具体运用时，到底该选哪一个介词呢？现浅析如下:
一、In用于一定范围内的比较，后面常跟表示区域、单位、团体、组织、时间等概念的名词或代词。例如：
She is the youngest in her class.她是班上年龄最小的。
Shanghai is one of the most beautiful cities in China.上海是中国最美丽的城市之一。
二、Of用于同类事物之间的比较，常用如下结构：
1. “of all"，"of all +the+名词复数”或“of all +one’s名词复数”等，表示“其中之最”。例如：
I have 200 books, and the English - Chinese Dictionary is the dearest of all.
我有200 本书,《英汉词典》是其中最贵的。
Of all the stars, the sun is the nearest to the earth.在所有的恒星中，太阳离地球最近。
Tom is the happiest of us all.汤姆是我们当中最开心的。
2.“the+基数词(+可数名词)，用于具体数目中，表示“几个之中最”。例如:
This picture is the most beautiful of the three.这幅画是这三幅中最美的。
Lucy is the tallest of the three girls.在三个女孩当中，露西个子最高。
三、Among 用于在多数同类事物之间(通常是三者以上)进行比较，表示“其中之最”，后面常接名词或代词。例如:
Miss Gao is the strictest among the teachers of all our school.
高老师是我们学校老师中最严厉的。
This picture is the most beautiful among these.在这些图片中，这一张最漂亮。
注：among之后接形容词最高级，还有“其中之一”的意思。例如：
