1. 表示“记忆（力）”，若指具体某人的记忆（力），通常为可数名词，若指抽象意义的记忆（力），通常为不可数名词。“回忆”一般都是可数名词；如：
I have a very good visual memory.
我过目不忘。
She has a very short memory.
她的记性很差，时间一长就忘。
The photos bring back lots of good memories.
这些照片唤起了许多美好的回忆。
People have short memories.
人是健忘的。
He had a long memory for people who had disappointed him.
谁让他失望，他总是记恨在心。
The time we spent together is now a distant memory.
我们一起度过的时光现已成为久远的记忆。
She has a good memory and finds it easy to retain facts.
她记忆力好，很容易记住事情。
The memory brought a tear to her eye.

表示“对……的记忆”，一般用介词 for。如：
I have a bad memory for names.
我不善于记名字。
John has a good memory for names (faces, figures). 约翰对人的名字（面孔、数字）有很好的记忆力。
There hasn't been peace in the country in/within my memory.
在我的记忆里，这个国家从没太平过。（不可数名词）
This hasn't happened in living memory.
在世的人都不记得发生过这样的事。（不可数名词）
The floods are the worst in living memory...
那次洪水是人们记忆中最严重的一次。（不可数名词）
2. 注意正确理解以下各句：
His name escaped my memory. 他的名字我记不起了。
Bit by bit memories of the night came back to me.
我渐渐回忆起了那晚的点点滴滴。
If my memory serves me right/well/correctly, he is 55 years old this year.
如果我没记错的话，他今年55岁了。
This moment will live in our memory for many years to come.
这一时刻将在我们的记忆中留存许多年。
3. 用于 in memory of, 意为“为了纪念，作为对某人的纪念”（注意不用冠词）。如：
He founded the charity in memory of his late wife.
他创办了这一慈善事业以纪念他已故的妻子。
The crowd observed a minute's silence in memory of those who had died.
众人为死者默哀一分钟。
The congress opened with a minute's silence in memory of those who died in the struggle.
